Who seeks after wisdom? Where is wisdom found?
Man in all his ways seeks after treasures. He thinks that in the treasures of the earth there is life. But the end of all this is emptiness. Man cannot find true peace and satisfaction in treasures.
They have to constantly be guarded and he is always worried that someone is going to break in and steal it. Jesus said :
Matt 6:19-21
19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Man digs in the ground, by mines, he tears mountains apart to get sapphires and gold. He stops up rivers from flowing as Job said :
Job 28:1-11
"Surely there is a mine for silver
And a place where they refine gold.
2 "Iron is taken from the dust,
And copper is smelted from rock.
3 "Man puts an end to darkness,
And to the farthest limit he searches out
The rock in gloom and deep shadow.
4 "He sinks a shaft far from habitation,
Forgotten by the foot;
They hang and swing to and fro far from men.
5 "The earth, from it comes food,
And underneath it is turned up as fire.
6 "Its rocks are the source of sapphires,
And its dust contains gold.
7 "The path no bird of prey knows,
Nor has the falcon's eye caught sight of it.
8 "The proud beasts have not trodden it,
Nor has the fierce lion passed over it.
9 "He puts his hand on the flint;
He overturns the mountains at the base.
10 "He hews out channels through the rocks,
And his eye sees anything precious.
11 "He dams up the streams from flowing,
And what is hidden he brings out to the light.
Man does not realize that riches and treasures are really just a source of pain and suffering and eventually death. But if he would seek after wisdom he would find all the riches he would ever need. It would be food and peace and abundance of everything he needs for life and long days.
Job 28:28
28 "And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding.'"
Prov 4:22 (words of wisdom)
22 For they are life to those who find them
And health to all their body.
True wisdom is a treasure and it satisfies the deepest longing of the heart of man. This wisdom is found in Proverbs. It is given by God to all who seek it. They will live and have long days.
