Here is a pic of a ring my hubby found in our backyard. It is stamped: 10K G.F. & Sterling on the inside. I had found a ring in the front yard...will post photo later.

The object next to it...is a perfume bottle. Hubby found this in his mother's backyard (12 houses down from us). We thought at first, some kind of weight...but my mother in law saw it and said it was her perfume bottle. She said she had it when she worked for Olan Mills, but does not remember where she got it. Time frame is mid to late 70's. I did find a place on the net that had a similar looking bottle, called BETTY ALLEN PERFUME BOTTLE BRACELET (if you type that in a search engine, you will see a link and a photo of it). This is not metal, as a magnetic will not stick to it. I think it's the cutest little thing :)

I think these are pretty cool. I will post other photos as I get them taken of other finds. I did find 7 wheat pennies in my front yard though..>I was tickled about that. Dates range from 1941 to 1958. OH, and I found an old spoon, broken handle...but so cool!!! Will post photo of that later too. Found that at the side of my house. This land was farm land for over 75 yrs. Our house was built in the mid 60's. From an ol' timer in the neighborhood, he said where our street is...dirt was pulled from there and piled on the ground where our houses are at. So, it's possible the spoon was actually at one time, where the street is now.

Thanks for letting me share with you....keeping posting...love hearing your stories and seeing your finds!!

I'm Sorry Neil in SJ :'( .... I was not a part of this forum then. I will do better next time!!! ;D

That is a really cool looking perfume bottle!!! WOW!!! Did you find this in your own yard or another location? Have you done any research on it? It looks like it's made from the same material as my MIL's lost perfume bottle. I'll see what I can find on it and post back here.

WTG!!!!

Let me modify my post here at bit.....how big is it? Looks about the same size as the one my hubby found...it's 3/4" in height. Does the one you have show where a chain may have been? Does the top look like a blot? From what I can see....it looks like it's more of a floral top. Does a magnetic stick to it? Mine does not stick...so we are thinking it may be made of brass, lead or copper. Yours looks like it was once RED in color. My MIL said her's was painted a bright red color.

Sure wish she could remember where she got it from...she did say it may also have been like a promotional bottle, like AVON. She use to get Persian Wood perfume from them and she said their bottle was red...but I don't remember AVON ever making perfume bottles with this type of material.

Here's the pic I found on the net that looked like the one we have. It's the Betty Allen Perfume Bottle Bracelet...the only one the net I could find. Nor can I find anything else out about this Betty Allen....UGH!!

Modified again: LOL....Ok...I went back and read your post. Train station area....makes sense. A women's perfume bottle, she lost it getting on the train, buying a ticket, meeting her lover. And had I seen the first pic you posted, I took would have been stumped...and it did give a look of a bullet...didn't it? And you had a gem in yours...lucky!!!! And I saw that it had a floral design top...so let me hunt...

Well, I see what I can find for you. Until then.....happy hunting!!!

OK>>>>MODIFY AGAIN: ;D

Here's a link with a very similar looking top like yours....http://www.overstock.com/sm-perfume...pendent--pg-proframe_pi-1419794_ti-82124.html

That is what I am thinking my MIL's bottle is made of...Copper.

I wish you luck this winter and hope you find lots of great things.

We went to our park (we are 3 houses from there). Searched around some old trees and found a few pennies, no wheaties. Lots of metal, piping. That area was once a water treatment plant in the 50's/60's. Don't know how long before the 50's....but were water once stood has since been filled and a playground is there and there is also a man-made lake, nasty water, no swimming allowed.

Kinda' hard to detect over there, esp where the land was filled in. So many pipes still there...I always get a coin sound...drives me nuts!! And lots of poison ivy, which I have to be very careful, poison ivy and I are not the best of friends and it always wins!!! LOL

We are hoping this week to get permission to detect some land out here that has been in this man's family since his something great grandfather was granted land from the King of England. He was sent here to colonize this area. The family still lives on the property....big area. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Well......happy hunting to you....someday we may found info about our perfume bottles :)
