[Barnaccle Bill 7456]

I'm considering buying a TREASURE TRACKER XR8. Can anybody give me the scoop on this detector? I was told it would be fine for a beginner like me.

I`d say stick with the name brands,you will have a better chance to enjoy this hobby.

Hey Bill! You would be better off to stick to one of the more well known brands such as, Fisher, Tesoro, Whites, Teknetics, Garrett or Bounty Hunter. If you are looking for a beginning detector, look into a Bounty Hunter tracker IV. I've seen them on craigslist for 50-60 bucks and even new they are fairly inexpensive. It will get you into the hobby and make a decent backup detector should you decide to upgrade later. If you re looking to spend over $100, look into the Tesoro Compadre. It is very simple but has excellent performance. Good luck.

G.A.P....... is right stay with the top name detectors they all have good lower priced detectors that will do any one a good job..... The brands you want to look at are... Tesoro ... Whites ... Garrett ... Fisher ... & ..Teknetics........I would stay away from detectors like that treasure tracker....
