Treasure hunting equipment dealer

As a business owner, I can only caution you to ask yourself, "am I offering something a consumer can't already get, in this small-world of internet mail order ease?".

I mean, sure, you may know a person or two in another country, but would a few for-sure sales merit the cost of starting a business? The amount of profit per machine, thanx to the cut-throut competition of the mail-order/internet age, has made new entries into the business all but impossible. You gotta be very well funded, and be prepared for years of sales to break even on your startup expenses. JHMO.

My friend Moonshiner: Take the money you would invest in a losing enterprise
and buy yourself a nice mail-order wife.

Wow ploobah. Why so cynical? Your business fail? I get the feeling you may have some "intergalactic" connections so fix me up.

Lastleg, wives are a worse failing enterprise for me. That would be my 5th. :-)

Tom in Ca, thanks for the feedback. I know I will not get rich but its something I enjoy and I've been working for "the man" long enough. Retiring soon. Do you use internet marketing/sales for your business (assuming your business is in this field)? I'm not starting a store front -- thinking specifically of internet sales for now. There are very few dealers in the St. Louis area for certain brands of equipment. One reason, I'm sure, is the limited demand for this kind of equipment in general. I think I would do well at generating more interest to broaden the demand (maybe I'm dreaming). I know the big internet dealers capture a great deal of the national and international market (maybe even intergalactic for ploobah) but they started somewhere. Thanks again.

Moonshiner,

I tried briefly, but have decided that detecting is more fun than selling. I have several new Garrett machines left that I will let have for what I paid for them plus shipping. PM me if you're interested.

Four wives and you still have money to start a business? Kudos!
