It's not a "treasure" story, but treasure hunters helping law enforcement and giving closure to the family of the deceased.
RGECY and Myself were very excited to help and find the lost boat.

DNR was finally able to pull the boat out of the river to positively identify it. Now the investigation will take place. This will be a long investigation, but has done some good.
The people living on the island depent on these small bow-riders to get them back and forth to their homes on a daily basis. It would be like you and I driving down our driveway to get to the road. They use these boats to cross the river to get to their cars, as there is no bridge or other ways to get from the mainland to the island. Keep in mind, this island is not like a resort spot. These residents are mostly very poor, living in houses and property that was passed down from their ancestors who worked the rice fields on the island from as far back as the late 1700's. The boats they use would not even be considered sea-worthy by you or I.
With this investigation and news of the tragedy, the DNR has stepped up and offered to inspect their boats at no charge with no consequences. In other words, they will let them know the problems that need to be fixed to make these boats safe.
