I do not believe it is a coin. No letters, no numbers, no head (bust). The reverse doesn't appear to have anything on it. Almost like a "home made" piece of jewelry. Perhaps an expert will chime in shortly to confirm or deny.

It almost looks like a watch fob... almost.

More info needed, generally where was it found and perhaps a bit of backstory would assist in the ID. Did you clean it, looks shiny, as opposed to old and tarnished.

Whatever it is, I like it, just never seen a coin like that before.

Thanks Tom. It came with an estate with other higher-end jewelry. I see what appears to possibly be some type of animal, some spirals, and obviously other patterns. Of course it may be a Rorschach test. Thank you again and kind regards-

It looks like a hammered coin... pre 1700s... but all of the ones that I familiar with have numbers, letters, symbols, animals, heads etc on them. They have marks that ID what they are and where they came from.

The fact that reverse has nothing on it is out of character for a coin. It almost looks like someone poured melted silver out, then "pressed" the design into the front with some sort of die.

I am glad that you said that it was associated with jewelry, because that is what I think it is, a hand made piece of jewelry... made to look like a COB (hammered silver coin).

I am by no means any sort of expert on coins or jewelry... or anything else!

Best of luck to you. Can't wait to see what the others think of it.

Definitely interesting! Have you had it tested for content or Silver purity if that is what it is made from? If not, just don't go through the whole process of trying to prove it's Silver content like Crispin did with his found fire nuggets and suffering all of the naysaying.:icon_scratch:

LOOKS LIKE A COIN THAT HAS HAD THE HAEL BEAT OUT OF IT POSSIBLY TO BE A MEDALLION FOR A NECKLACE. IT IS NEAT LOOKING.

It's silver, and i tested it. It seems to react to higher than .925. Thanks for the responses!

Very cool...It appears to ME that it is a "mid-mordern" art peice.Keychain,Necklace(most likely),A really cool peice&"higher" silver content would be .999,Although i have seen 975 on some Swed.Jewlery...MY 2 cents worth...HAPPY HUNTING ALL:thumbsup:
