I don't want you to give up your honey hole (secret spot). But I would like to see if people have had any luck metal detecting on the Treasure Coast. I am planning on making a trip over within the next couple of weeks. Check out this map that I got from another site. Treasure Fleet Wreck.gif

good map. unfortunately, conditions are very bad right now!!!!!!! check a bunch of spots and hopfully you will find someplace with a little better conditions than all the rest.

chuck.

Since you probably can't schedule your trip based on the weather..my advice for you would be to work the low tide zone for your best chance during conditions like we have right now.
Or forget about old items all together and hit places that get alot of use.

Good luck..

Thanks for the sites to check out. I had to send my AT PRO into get fixed. Hopefully I will be able to do some detecting on the T. Coast within the next couple of weeks. I am just trying to figure out the best place to go. :metaldetector:

The wind is supposed to go north on Wed. 15+ knots and stay for a few days..that's the best we've had in quite a while.
I would suggest picking a spot that's just on the south side of small points and bends in the beach to focus.
Wherever there is evidence of a fresh cut. That has compact sand free of light material like seaweed and shows some exposed larger stones and shells low on the beach.
That being said..there is tons of replenishment sand on many spots so... it's challenging to say the least.
Our natural beach is "yellowish" semi coarse broken shells .. the fine brown looking junk is not where you will find older items...but you will scoop a million bits of steel pipes that they pumped the sand in with.
Good luck.

Gatorboy I did not know about the yellowish sand. Being from the other side that is a great tip. I am going to try around Vero/Walbasso Beach, this looks like it puts me in the middle of all the shipwrecks. I have only detected on this side once before. I went around the Riomar Golf Course, I did not have much luck at the time.

I wish you luck and hope you swing your coil over a nice patch of that good old beach material and make a nice find.
..oh yeah.. that material is hard on a scoop so use a sturdy one. If in the wet sand let the water help you by facing your scoop towards the dunes and wiggle it as the water pulls back out through your scoop.
Much easier that way and if your target pops out it will stay in your scoop.
Good luck.

Anyone know about around the Cape, can you search edgewater area, anything there? i know the nat seashore is off limits. how far north and south before you can detect and are there any possibilities in those areas?

Do you mean Cape Coral? If so the bad thing is, it's a newer city. Cape Coral was developed around 1957. The only older history that I have heard or read about was Harney's point. There is no real waters edge to hunt due to seawalls and private property. I have heard of old ship wreck in the river they were trying to recover items. A friend of a friend told me the salvage boat would only go out at night. The salvage boat use to dock at the Ft Myers yacht club. I have never heard anything about it on the news.

Also google Cape Coral pirate ship found. This is a different site.

Just found these a couple days ago..conditions were pretty bad almost everywhere ... almost...

Not alot to share really ..1715 fleet beach.. found a little "spooned out" area that I already knew was in a good spot..and started moving sand from above every faint signal.
.... check everything you find... especially when on a wreck beach...
The smaller one actually fell through my scoop and I put my foot on it as a wave came over my feet..I had no clue what it was.

Can you be a little more specific? Why won't it, what about a larger casche or something from the wreckage?

How would a two box work over there? Say along the edge of the dunes or by the low tide?
sabre 15, The reason a 2 box won't work is because it won't pick up individual coins. If you want something that will go real deep? Get a pulse star II from Kellyco in Orlando with a 15 inch coil... I works great the only problem that I have with one, is digging 4 foot holes on non ferrous objects on the beach and finding out that they are beer or soda cans.
