I am looking for a scoop I can pack in my suitcase for travel. The one I have, the handle is too long. Is there anything available with a handle that can be broken down, but still be strong enough to use. Once I get that, I have to convince my wife to allow me to bring the detector (and scoop) when we go on our next cruise to a warm, sunny place.

I have used the RTG-709MINITV travel stainless steel scoop for about 25 years. In that time I have had to replace the spring clip once. I have never looked back on choice. Caribbean is easy digging, no need for a big bucket.

i use RTG travel - i have big bucket - like to get target on first scoop

my large travel one and a hand one

Quest scoop-all with their aluminum two piece handle is a budget option that's actually not all that bad. Has u-bolts, so you could use a variety of things for a handle in a pinch. Bought one years ago just to have in case I fly somewhere, but I never travel, lol. Works well to catch the tiny stuff, have used it for that in certain situations.
