Hi All,
I am new to metal detecting and I'm having an issue with possible interferance or false signs from what I believe is traprock or basalt rock in and around where I hunt in Western WI and Eastern MN. I just bought a Tesoro Cibola and I am getting frustrated with the erratic signals evertime I get near traprock.
Any help from this awesome forum would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone here know if the traprock will cause false signals?

can you manually ground balance the detector on the rock and knock it out that way
some time you need to turn thing down we have volcanic basalt around hear it over loads the mxt and likes to ring up nickle
Huron mountains will over load the mxt also that's mostly slate up there with glacial deposit and deep grove's
some rocks just ring up my
5900 you have too dig down to the rock then move the rock to see if it's not the rock,my garret box loop was the same, the mxt all you have to do is touch the loop on the rock and it will over load saving you time..is trap rock, bed rock," frantic city" raa raa

The cibola doesn't have ground balance. Wish I would have bought the vaquero now. I will turn the sensitivity down and see if that helps. Thank you.
