Trap tag? Other ideas?

Found this yesterday in some woods on a bluff above the Cumberland River, north of Nashville. Residential area. Have posted it on various MD forums and some say trap tag, others say it's off a phone pole. Any ideas? Flip side is blank. Metal feels light like aluminum but not sure. Thank you! ive seen such tags attached to base of trees in my forest.Here they are used when studying bark beattle or other tree malady.Also there are similar marking wildlife trees,trees that house threatened species

Not sure what it is but I'm pretty sure it's not a trappers tag, trappers tags normally have the persons full name and address on it, as required by law.

My guess would be a stamp or tag for a tree or post/pole .... because ... looks to me like each letter was stamped individually at the site and not in a workshop/factory somewhere ... the groups of letters must match up to a code of some sort ...

I have fish tags from NY and look similar but yours MAY be broken IF some sort of game tag...Mine are aluminum or very thin sheet metal as there is rust on a few of mine...HAPPY HUNTING ALL!!!

IMO it is not a trap tag for reasons already written and it does seem to be a code instead of an acronym or abbreviation. I think this is a personal equipment or tool tag.
