I can tell you I found one just like it in Northern Wisconsin, much better shape then yours! So it'll be nice to see what it ends up being! Oh, BTW I also found a C & NW button not too far away from it as well.

At the time I thought it was from a conductor's jacket or something like that.

Mine wasn't a whole button, more like a button cover. I have a picture of it in my 2007 finds, but ya can't make it really well.

Hello Jeff:

I have one of those buttons also. I heard of one that was dug at a Fur Trade settlement (identical to your button and mine) but other experts on here say that it is not possible. I found it along with the other object in the pic which I also suspected was from the fur trade era. Again, the treasurenet guys did not agree.

Here are the pics of it:

Good luck identifying it and Happy Hunting

foiled again, that's exactly what my button looks like. I found mine with other things as old as the Old Copper Culture, fur trade stuff as well, I don't belive it had anything to do with the fur trade. Just happen to be found with some people that were there before the logging trains were!

Thanks for the Better Pic

Received a PM I.D. > I'm satisfied with
a c. 1900-10 work clothes / overalls button. In addition to stock/generic buttons like yours, a very similar, if not identical "locomotive" die was used on a number of brand-name buttons, with lettering above and below the image: "Union / Made," "The / Winner," etc.

Some books list it at $5-10 in nice condition.

Here's another variation of a choo-choo button. IDed the same as yours. Early 1900's work clothes.
