I was down in Southern Colorado and had some time to get out. The weather was windy but nice. First coal pick for me. I have quite a few of them but never found any. I was hoping for a mine stamp. My collection of train buttons is growing. This has to be the best design! If anyone has any idea the maker of the reel or know what the lid belongs to let me know. The military button is toast but legible. I imagine it dates around 1900. I sure enjoy learning the history! Happy Hunting!! 96EBB7EB-45F3-4007-B33F-46D1CA741E84.jpegBE479C80-F6F5-4C72-8035-28A021CDCA73.jpegDE14D672-E3F9-4C3C-91F2-6E66524757CD.jpegFC1AC508-2F60-42C1-8D6E-28378826EAFF.jpeg2BA241AD-73BD-4052-892C-E46A1F1AAA56.jpeg

Nice train button. Is it an overalls button? What does the back look like?

The bust of Liberty on your brass lid looks almost identical to the bust on a V or Barber nickel.

Congratulations!:occasion14:

Congrats on some nice finds!

Yesteryear's trash can be today's cool old treasure. Love the liberty head lid. Got myself a small collection of railroad buttons going too. Must be from some work wear back in the day. Fun finds.

Thanks for the ID on the head. I am sure curious as to what it was. It sure looked like a coin coming out of the ground!!
There are some shanked buttons with trains on them, but yours looks to be an iron back overall variety. Still a cool image.

Thanks Kurios the trashier the site is the better. I am going to try my small coil today, I haven’t used it in forever. Those buttons are a great item. Happy Hunting!!!

Thanks Steve, my Grandpa worked on the railroad. I love finding anything related to them! I appreciate the information!

That's some really nice finds! I really like that liberty lid!

Thanks Texjim and Vldetecting, it’s always a plus when you go out and find something. It sure doesn’t happen all the time:)
