Dont know where else to post this but I figure my "garage sales family" should appreciate this the most!

Back over a year ago I bought a coin collection for $75. It had over $100 in silver coins so it was already a win for me. Started piecing out the rest over time and eventually came to the realization that I had a rare counterfeit "brass" 2 reale as well as a canadian bust and harp token. Both were in fantastic original condition; very desirable coins (to the right person). Well finding a collector to buy these is tough because it is a tight niche market of collectors for this stuff. Last night at my coin club auction, there is one collector who has been into the C4 and EAC stuff for years. I guess when you are hardcore about coppers, you graduate into the specialized niche areas and sure enough he wanted my 2 coins. Finally he offered me a deal I simply couldnt refuse:

-1785 nova constelatio, ag/g
-KGIII counterfeit BOLDLY DOUBLE STRUCK w/ date
-KGIII counterfeit BROCKAGE/wrong planchet error

Although it is hard to put a price on most of the coins involved in this trade, I feel as though I traded up. I had multiple offers on the error coins by the end of the night. Gonna take them to Baltimore coin show next week and show them to some other C4/EAC guys.

You can be almost sure the bust and harp was common and not much value, and solid brass two reales do have some value but depends. It's definitely true there's not too many interested in these, but the nicer ones will sell ok.

I'm with you there. I know a little about everything and a lot about nothing. lol. I would love to find (dig) an EAC someday though.

If you ever want to take a trip to NJ, I will set up a nice hunt for you in the fields. Seriously.
