Hi friends!

I wanted to go detecting after work tonight but I promised my daughter that I'd go with her to her best friend's softball game. The game started at 6:pm ~ I got off of work at 4:30, so I told her I'd only take her if she let me go detecting for a little while before the game started. She agreed and we drove downtown and I found a spot to hunt for about an hour.

I didn't do too bad for only detecting for about an hour! Here's what I dug:

1964-D Silver Rosie Dime
25c trade token
3 clad quarters
3 clad dimes
15 memorial cents
no nickels

I was very suprised when I dug the trade token! It sounded just like a zinc cent on my Explorer SE ~ but I decided to dig it because it seemed kinda deep for a zinc cent ~ maybe 5 inches deep or so. I haven't even looked it up to see if it's a listed token! It's copper/bronze and about the size of a US quarter ~ it reads CAL-ORE. TAVERN WEED KLAMATH HGWY. // GOOD FOR 25c IN TRADE. I assume it's from Weed California, right? Does HGWY mean "highway"?

The 1964-D Silver Rosie dime was so dark when I dug it that I didn't realize it was a silver coin for a while! I thought it was the usual discolored clad dime.

I took pic's of the silver dime & trade token before and after I cleaned them up. The dime is my silver coin find #39 for the year.

Thanks for looking!
Neil

Definately a neat token Neil
Looks like the Rosie might have been close
to some iron for a while.... but cleaned up
real nice. Congrats on #39
Gold Nuggets :hello:

Ya see, that's how you reel me in. Start with "Trade Token" and you get me annoying you. And a nice one to boot. I can't identify where it's from, but someone here usually can. But you gotta dig a nickel next time. I can already see how your settings were set. Nice, nice token. You dig no more for a while, 'kay?

Congratulations on another silver, Neil. The token is great. The Weed/Klamath highway has to be highway 97. Its about 70 miles or so between Weed and Klamath Falls, and I've driven it often. Can't recall a Cal Ore tavern, but there must be some record of it.

Thanks man!

I found out that this token is from DORRIS California (Siskiyou County). Is Dorris in between Klamath Falls and Weed on Hwy 97?

Sweet token! I love seeing all of the tokens on here that everyone seems to keep finding. I haven't found a token in ages.

I've been going through physical withdraws as well. Been a long time for me. Miss their warmth.
