I think you have an old one there! Are you sure this isn't a maker mark?

Here's a closer pic.... I'm still not sure I see much more than pitting, but I'm not familiar with various trademarks....If you've got any references let me know. I did try running it through various filters in photoshop but could really find anything...

Yea it's hard to tell. I always seem to see these best with raking light held at a very low angle. Even if it is a mark, it would probably be very difficult to match it to anyone. Nice ax nevertheless....

You made a very interesting observation. Why do you think so?

Just a heads up, this post is from 8 yrs ago, and getting a reply back to your query would be slim as the member hasn't posted in over a yr now.
