Trade 51'silver dime for 3 steel penny's?

Hi guys, was at the local antique/coin shop and was talking about some recent finds (I mentioned I scored a 51 dime, among some other odds and ends)

I showed some interest in the steel penny's he had - I've heard about them but had never seen one.

He offered to trade a 3 pack of steel penny's he had which are in REALLY good shape -- for my dime...

Fair deal?

Thanks guys!

Thanks Nitric!

I will be getting a small display case for myself soon, I think the steel penny's would look pretty awesome in there! It's a coin toss I guess....har har :-P

I have some steel pennies, I love them

keep your dime, look around other shops, you can get a 43 zinc, for a quarter or less. get a grey looking one which is natural, a "silvery" shiny one, likely has been electroplated, as stated above.

The only reason id choose the steel over the '51 silver dime is if like you said never had one before. Other then that its your basic steel vs Silver. Silver wins that one for sureeeee. Good post.

Thanks guys!
