I can identify musket balls, square nails, old tools, pieces of watches and locks, but this potential farm equipment stumps me. It is probably not that old but I keep going back to look at it to figure out what it says. Such an unusual shape and has letters or numbers on the edge. It appears to have been attached to something with a sqare bolt. It is 1.5 inches long. Any ideas?

Guess I'll have to sleep on it. All I can say for now is it is a cam. For what? I dunno.

Could you give some dimensions or post another pic next to a dime or quarter?

looks like a locking cam jaw from a dump bed trailer, like the ones used on Claus, Fendt, Belarus, Eicher, and many others.

Even on the older Unimogs like the 406 and 416's they used the same sort of cam lock.

The issue with them was they would freeze up during the cold months and break under hard use.

If you clean it up some the numbers or letters on the piece might I.D. it.
