Tracker IV on the beach

Your using a single freq detector , not designed for saltwater beaches.. if you want to hunt salt beaches you need a PI or multiple freq detector to get any depth at all....

Yes I realize that. I am still wondering how others fare with the tracker? The multi freq machines are a bit out of my price range right now. I could drop $300-$500 on a new detector but there just isn't really anything good in that price range for wet salty sand so I might as well stay with my tracker for now. I eventually plan to get the minelab excal or gt or similar.

Did a wetsand test today with a bottle cap (corona bottle cap). Next time I will do it with a penny, nickel, and quarter and different depths and modes (give me 2 weeks as I am traveling until then).

On all metal mode in salty wet sand with Disc 0:

At 5.5 inches:

Sensitivity max - easily detect
Sensitivity 3 oclock - easily detect
Sensitivity 12 oclock - could not detect

At 9 inches:

Sensitivity max - easily detect
Sensitivity 3 oclock - could not detect
Sensitivity 12 oclock - could not detect

I also noticed that on wetsand noise/false beeps are easily avoided by moving the coil slow, even at max setting. On 3oclock I could move at a regular pace and avoid pretty much all falses but I know I am limiting my depth there. Now I need to test this with different metals and different depths/modes. I have also realized I need headphones as I couldnt hear all of the beeps this close to the waves. I wonder if I have been walking and just missing beeps haha. Headphones are now on order.

So long as you know your hunting under a handicap in the wet saltwater sand your ahead of most guys. Keep the coil level to the sand the full sweep.

Thanks for the tip! I am new and learning a lot. I have my eyes set on a few minelab machines (excal/GT) as I only do beach hunting but for now the tracker is going to have to do so I am trying to really figure it out and hopefully help others who have the same questions. I just wish there were some cheaper beach machines haha.

Air test (I know not the best but it does tell you something) - I am really just trying to learn my new cz21 so i figured I would do a test as well:)

I compared my bounty hunter tracker iv to my cz21. This was an air test on a sand/soil mixture in my yard. I placed each item on the flat ground and tested.

BH settings - disc low and sens high
cz21 settings - ground balanced, sens 7, vol 5, both autotone and 0 (no difference for these on this test)

iron nail
BH - 2 inches
CZ21 - 8-10 inches

Penny
BH - 2-3 inches
CZ21 - 8-10 inches

Nickel
BH - 2-3 inches
CZ21 - 8-10 inches

Dime
BH - 2-3
CZ21 - 8-10

Quarter
BH - 2-3
CZ21 - 8-10

14kt gold ring
BH - 2-3
CZ21 - 8-10

*in 0 mode on CZ21 the money sounded very high pitch, the iron very low, and the gold in between maybe more high
*in tone mode on the BH money/ring sounded the same and iron was very low but difficult to detect even almost touching it.
