One of the things I do every year is donate to Toys for Tots. This year I have started buying toys that are new in box and good condition at the TS to donate (I also buy new toys from the stores). So far I have a couple of models new box with plastic wrap, Brand new Battle Ship and a couple of Marvel figures new from the TS. Are these the most popular? no but they are new.

Just thought I would pass this along. Before you toss them or give new toys to the Thrift Store, think about donating them to one of the charities were the parents do not have to buy them. (Some thing the big TS have lost in what they are suppose to be about).

UPDATE: Dropped off the unopened toys to a local charity. It was not Toys for Tots they did not have a drop box out.

^^Yes!!^^

Before everyone got poor back in 2008, I used to buy and sell the clearance priced toys from Target(right before they salvaged and sold them to Goodwill) and at Christmas, my church would donate them to kids in our Sunday School class. I still have some toys from a couple years ago. And I always forget about them. I will do this for sure this year! Thanks!

We try to go to dollar general and spent $100 every year. And donate them to toys for tots at Chick-fil-A. Surprisingly a hundred dollars it goes pretty far there. But we usually get a lot of coloring books with crayons instead of big things so a couple kids will get stuff instead of two or three. And at yard sales I'll pick stuff up and tell them that's what I'm purchasing it for and I normally get stuff for free. We take probably 15 shopping bags full of toys when we drop it off.

On another note we sponsor a child in Kenya through world vision. We bought them chickens last year. To help feed their family. And got back a huge thank you because it's so hard to get extra food there and they're able to sell them as well. It's crazy how far our money that we complain about as worthless here, can do to help other people in different countries.

I have loose common Hot Wheels in great condition. I wonder if I should donate those? Would they be a good gift even if they are not on the Card?

My family participates in "Hope for the Holidays" - We are sent names and ages of children and their Mom, package up gifts for the family and drop it off at the main office who then distributes to the family. Hoping and praying we are helping a true family in need, that they may have a joyful Christmas morning!
