Toy Musket? Please help identify.

Dug this up over the weekend in southwest NJ. I thought it was scrap metal until I cleaned it off on Sunday and it revealed a trigger and barrel. To help date the area, also dug up that day was an 1857 Flying Eagle Penny, some Indian pennies and Buffalo nickels. Dime is included for both scale and to show possible discoloration as they came from the same ground.

Is it diecast?

Um, I don't know. I didn't see a seam down the middle indicating that it was two casts forced together. I'll take a closer look when I get home. Would there be something else I should look for?

Is it a hollow pipe or closed on one end?
