Toy Hammer or a Real Tool?

I found this little guy in our 1900 Farmhouse yard. This little 'hammer' is 6 inches long and weighs 84 grams. There are no markings on it. Do you think it's just a child's hammer or is this an actual tool of some sort? Thank you for your thoughts.

What I was told once is that hammers are for nails, mauls are beating things as opposed to driving things, mallets are for "fitting".

I think AARC nailed it. It could be a watchmaker's tool?
