At first glance it sounds good, let's go! I'll have to do some more research on this location.

How did you chance upon this article Gypsy Heart? Thanks for sharing :)

I was just doing some research on another picnic grove near there and found this advertisment banner....Hope someone can go hunt there and find some goodies.,....I dont know if its private now or not...

"The largest of these is the Tower Lakes Improvement Association (TLIA), consisting of over 360 member families. It was chartered in 1931 and was the governing body of Tower Lakes until Village incorporation in 1966. It still holds title to the lakes, ponds, islands, beach, bridges, parks, playgrounds, soccer field and tennis courts in Tower Lakes, which are the private property of its members. Because of this extensive recreational property ownership, the TLIA has a much larger and more active role than the typical homeowners' association. It sponsors frequent social events, including the annual July 4 festival. Its volunteer, unpaid, elected board meets on the second Monday of each month, at the Tower Lakes Village Office, 400 North Route 59, Tower Lakes, IL 60010 at 7:30 pm."

If you don't live in Tower Lakes, you probably won't be driving in there anytime soon. There's a nice big pond in Mundelein too but you won't be there unless your a neighbor or guest.

a lot of parks in there?

lowbatts.. have you been to the area ? is there a main gate to get through?

I know there are roads there for residents only, as I was told by one of their finest some years back when turning around off Kelsey Road. I'll let someone else debate that issue, I chose to move along as he suggested.

They have very protective law enforcement there. Nothing bad in what I said there, just that in my town or yours where it's larger, cops don't pull people over when they don't have village stickers displayed. Other place nearby with some very beautiful older homesites and potential, North Barrington. Again however they don't cotton to outsiders.

Try driving around the area and ask the local law if they mind you detecting there first.

Thanks for the heads up there Gypsy!
Please fill me in on your research techniques and links. I always wonder how a girl from Missouri can come up with so much information from other states.
Mike

Sounds like a good place. Our local library has tons of old newspapers and on microfische. Take some time when you get a chance and do some research. You would be surprised the leads you can get :icon_sunny:
