Spent 5 hours closer to home on a field which is far from perfect (very rough ploughed).

Broken hammered Sixpence of Lizy
7 scrappies
1668 token
Couple of bits of silver
Medieval Stud - flower shaped
& stuff..

Found 2 metres apart, remided my a Rob's recent find. Pretty unusual to find broken items that fit together. It was broken in half some years ago as the scarring has heal, but the Qrter break was fairly recent.

Well I would be (as most of the American's) glad with such finds in one day. I was out yesterday (Sunday) and only found one weight, about 6 copper coins (bad condition) and a lot of junk. Holland is not England, you guys have it made!

The toughness was more on the field conditions, as it was an OK 5 hours with 7 scrappies & a 17th century token. We try not to expect too much, years ago this would have been a great day. As long as we progress our totals towards this years targets then we are happy. We have covered more area which might bring us closer to one of the nicer finds which we all like to get.

I do indeed feel privileged with where I live.

Please read response 7. It was more the ankle breaking conditions, & yes if it were flatter we would have had more finds. But it was far from a bad day.

I see. In that case, congratulations on tackling the Tough terrain and walking away with some great finds. Looks like you will beat last year's hammered record at this rate, right? Does the one from today count as "1 hammered" or "2 hammereds"? :P

I have read #7...tell me what the temperature was and I'll decide if I think it was tough enough...LOL..
In all honesty, I hate walking through the rough plows also..(hard to get a good swing)
