Excellent first hand account of a Fl. old timer who lived a hard life in the 10,000 Islands region of Southwesternmost Florida, where the Everglades empties innto the Gulf. It begins with his pioneer grandparents in the late 1800's and proceeds to his life as a child in the early 1920's through the 90's when he was an old man. His daddy was a moonshiner, he was a trapper, a marijuana smuggler, a poacher, alligator hunter, and commercial fisherman. He lived off the land and played by his own rules and doesn't apologize for any of it. He was a man full of pride and honesty rarely seen these days. He's a great storyteller and the book is a great read.

I've read it also and it was a great read.

You might also want to check out "Killing Mister Watson" by Peter Mathiessen. It's a fictionalized account of an actual event in the 10,000 islands back in 1910/12. One of the best books I ever read.
