Re: Total finds with my metal detector

I'm predicting that you will find silver before the other half of the battery runs out. >crossing fingers<

Re: Total finds with my metal detector

Thanks everyone, and you were right!!!, i think...

I was just outside finishing the battery on my detector when i got a solid signal 2 inches deep, i dug and out came something that i think is silver, its not a coin but its a small rock that looks silver! I dont know anything about nugget hunting but i think that its a small silver nugget. It weighs just under about 1/10 of an ounce. Mlw67 thanks for crossing your fingers! ;D

Silver nuggets are quite unusual, I'd consider that a rarer find than a silver coin (except for certain ones maybe). Unlike silver coins, there aren't that many places in the USA where you have a good chance of finding natural silver nuggets (in other words, something that isn't a blob from a melted coin or spoon or what have you). So it sounds like you're doing pretty well already!

Congrats and HH!

You are doing well, congrats on the finds! HH, Mike

not always (but youre right it could be that), real silver nuggets have a lot higher density than aluminum. They are usually also black. Instead of being in the ground for only 50 years, they have been in the ground sometimes several million years ;)

In U.P. Michigan you can find natural silver-copper mix nuggets
