Hi Everyone
As I have learned on this site it takes some time to learn your metal detector. I have a Tesoro Silver UMAX and during this learning process I have been hitting a lot of tot lots. I set it on six on my sensitivity and tab on my discriminator level and set the switch in discriminator mode, at those settings I can keep very busy plucking coin after coin from these areas. A few nights ago someone from this forum was talking about treasure depot online magazine. http://www.thetreasuredepot.com/tdmag.html

A gentleman named Bill Revis writes some great articles on coin shooting. After doing a little reading I went out today to a tot lot and set my discriminator level a little above iron my sensitivity was set on six and my mode was set on all metal. To my amazement I started picking out jewelry no gold no silver but I learned a valuable lesson about all the things I'm leaving behind. Yes it's true you do lots more digging but from what I've seen that's what it takes. Thanks to this site I learn more and more every day.
Thanks Tnet.

welcome & good starts! :)

I LOVE tot lots.

Set for all metal and discriminate iron/foil then dig EVERYTHING. The first time you may be digging a lot of crap, but when you go back it will be nice and clean and most targets will be keepers.

I had the chance to go MDing for and hour yesterday and found these rings and pins. None are silver or gold but it proved to me I am on the right track. I am now on a two stage treasure hunt, First coins then Jewelry. :icon_thumleft:

:icon_thumleft: Just wait til you find your first gold or silver jewelry, you will be hopelessly hooked!!!! Don't give up, oh, and when you hit the tot lots, don't forget the shady area's, parents love to sit under trees, also hit under equipment that kids hang from, we picked up almost $3.00 in quarters one day in a tot lot, plus video game cartidges, toy cars and more!!! :hello2: It also helps to take a bag with you to put your garbage you dig up in, that way you don't keep hitting it when you go back! :laughing7: We are looking forward to seeing more finds from you!!!!
