Depends how you look at it, face value only $3.19 or melt and face value around $23.19 (+-)
Anyway I hunted for spots first down by the Neuse, no real luck, I'm new to the area, so more
reconnoitre is needed. I hunted around 2.5 hrs, longest in a while. I was behind a school by the banks and decided to try my luck at the Tot Lot before I packed it in, after I failed to secure any old ground. The Tot Lot was virgin......lots of easy coin digging. I cleared the areas of interest as usual, and was working under the monkey bars, nailing coin after coin, hoping for a "golden warble", then blast my ears rang, wow big target, I thought it was a beer can, but it was a big eagle in the sand.....H3LL YEAH!
1879 no mint mark.......It is bitter sweet because I know it was a fresh "Show and Tell" drop, wish I found it on old ground.....Silver draught is over, and I am energized.
