This is a toolbox that was made in the thirties. By the tool manufacturer Blackhawk tool company out of Milwaukee Wi. The toolbox was sold with a ratchet and sockets inside. Unfortunatly I only have the toolbox. It didn't come with the ratchet set. A friend of mine has the ratchet set but not the box. So he said I can have the ratchet set to make my box complete, again. The toolbox alone with sell at auction for $300.00 dollars. I only paid $50.00 dollars at an auction. And with the Blackhawk ratchet set the whole shebang sells for $500.00 on ebay easily. My toolbox is painted yellow. But it orinally was painted red, with a blackhawk tool company decal on the rightside of the lid. Mine is missing. Although when I get done restoring this toolbox it will look good as new.

Thanks, for your interest. When I saw this at the auction, I thought it was a toolbox for a salesman that worked for the electrolux vacuum dealership. Because it kind of looks like that kind of vacuum. The auctioneer said what the heck is that and I said that I didn't have a clue, but that I had to have it because it was unusual. Then I did the research on it. And now I will keep it for many many years. It is something that you don't see everyday.

One thing seems to ring true with quite a few finds "unusual" items can be hot sellers. Nice find. Post a pic after your restoration.

Here it a picture of what it is supposed to look like. And yes I will post a picture of what it looked like restored. All in it's glory with the name of the manufacturer airbrushed on the side of the toolbox

Here is a picture of what it should actualy look like.......

Funny! My first thought was electrolux, second was someone modded an old canister vacumn into a tool box.

If you can't find a decal. A trick I've used is to find a good picture of the decal on the web or catalog etc. Clean up the picture and size it the same as the original in photoshop. Print it out on good quality glossy printer paper or photo paper. Use Decal-it to make your own decal. Have used this for old Craftsman & Briggs & Stratton decals. Hint: If you use them on a motor or anything with fuel or heat mask around the decal and spray it with a clear coat.

Nice find! Should restore nicely!

Awesome box!!! Nice find!!!!

FWIW, did Snap-On use the exact same box?

If so, one was featured on Antiques Roadshow several years ago.

It would be cool to assemble the complete set, if you are missing any parts.
