top of the scoop

just got in the water couple months ago and i'm hooked.i've gotten gold on the bottom of the scoop once it drains,but i thought it'd be cool to see it right on top when ya bring your scoop right out of the water.well sat i hit the lake and bang! got a good signal,first scoop,there she was sitting right on top of the sand!awesome!i just reached out a grabbed it,wooohooo.well when i got home and checked her out no marks except for UP, i figure the "P" stands for plated,whats the "U"stand for?

The P doesn't always stand for plated. in some instances it is for Purity. I had one marked 14KP and that is what it ment. Someone has a chart that shows what all the markings stand for, not sure where it is though. I wouldn't put it in the junk pile yet.

That sure is one nice ring! I hope it turns out to be gold. I would have it tested by a jeweler, which shouldnt cost much at all, if anything.
