Those are killer tools and great looking flint. Some are very expedient tools made on flakes "flake knives" and some are so much more worked. Love those last two and the triangular one "unifacial thumbnail scrapers". You are in a great spot for sure, finding lots of tools like that.
They all got the job done! Probably have to do a micro analysis of the use wear to determine if any one was working hide or wood or bone....but a little flake knife can butcher an entire animal and little thumbnail scrapers can do the fine work on the hide. Or they could scrape the bark off sticks, LOL

That's all? :laughing7:...I'd say that's a lot! Nice rock!

Thanks, I know some are crude but are still tools and scrapers. Better than finding pottery which I did but left it for somebody else to enjoy.

Very nice of you to do that with the sherds rock:icon_thumleft:

It was a large piece probably 4 inches but was plain. I already have a piece like it so I put it up higher on the shore line for somebody else.

The 1st 2 in the pics are large end scrapers in case nobody sees it. They date Early Archaic or earlier. As the younger the tools get the smaller they got. Those pieces like the one on the left is 3L and 2.5W a very large end scraper even though it is not finished on the top as Tom said Expedient tool which means they probably used it once and then tossed it. I collect those types and find them interesting. Not worth any $ but are still very interesting to me.

Nice thumbnail scrapers! You found some good flake. I like collecting some unifaced tools also. Looks like a very good spot.

Thanks I was happy to find them. Nice study pieces.

You always find the coolest things! Geez I wish I hunted in your area and found the shards you leave, it's very generous of you. Now me? nope I'm a bit stingy with what I find ;-)

You have so much pottery that you leave it?? You must have some really good places to hunt.

i really like that black flint

what is the name of that type?

Its the smooth kind, lol. We have a grainy type but it might be a type of quartzite. There is so many different colors around here I wouldnt be able to say for sure. Thanks for asking though. I do know it came from the creek.
