Hey y’all
I found this this weekend while out detecting at a trash dump in New Orleans. It’s just an old tool tag/check but I was curious to know if anyone knew what company it was from. The artifacts found there date from the early 1900s up till the 50s or so, so it could be from anywhere around there. I know it’s not super old or valuable but my curiosity got the best of me. It’s got the number 146, which if it’s an employee number, would mean the company was pretty large and likely to be in some kind of records. I’m assuming it’s from nola, but at a trash dump, you never really know

It didn’t photograph too well so here’s just a simple illustration of the textImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1592844164.437305.webp
Thanks

Interesting find. Good luck on finding out what it is for sure. Thanks for sharing.

AHW co 2 New orleans.webp

Later known as A. H. White Roofing and Tar.

I found references for the company from 1901 - 1926.

Doesn't really look like a tool tag, looks more like a token with a hole

Following-up on DCMatt's work, it looks like the building on Gravier Street is no longer standing.
Also, a major CAT-3 hurricane hit the New Orleans area (Houma, LA) in 1926, so that may have something to their disappearance after 1926, unless of course, additional info comes to light.
