Tool, I'm sure but just don't know what type - Ladder Catch - THANKS

Hi Everyone.

Here is something I found last fall and haven't been able to pinpoint for sure what it is. I am sure that it is a tool of some sort. It was found in a barn about 2" deep. My wife thinks it looks like it might be off of a plane of some sort. She is probably right but I just can't find a match.

Barns date from the late 1880's and have held everything from wagons to modern tractors. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

Here's a pic of a vintage plane; there are some similarities. Breezie

You have me REALLY curious. What is a trip boomer? Google was no help to me on this one. The barn that this was found in is within fifteen feet of an old skid road that is older than the barn. It is also within 100 yards of the locations where two narrow gauge tram lines ran that took logs out of the area and less than a mile from at least three known permanent logging camps from the 1870's to 1890's.

I'm going to green check this one as a ladder catch. Thanks Taz and all of the others that helped! I do appreciate it.
