After several weeks of study, watching video, and reading and listening to the advice given here on Treasure net,i ordered a explorer se. I sure hope the learning curve is'nt to hard. However i now need coil advice. A 5" coil is a must for me, lots of trash in the parks and forest perserves around me,but do i need the 12, 14, or even a 18" coil at this time or will the stock 10.5 coil do until i become familiar with the se.

The 5" was a smart buy.Stick with the standard until you really know the detector then you can decide. It will depend on where/type most of your hunting will be.

The explorers are really good machines.
Youshould be able to pick it up and use it rather easily. It takes a while to learn all the things you can make it do.But if you read the instruction manual, the basics of it were pretty simple for me.
I have had mine 6 yrs or so and im still learning things about it.
The 5" coil works great.I have even went back over areas where i used my 10.5 in ch and found more stuff..
GOOD LUCK AND Happy hunting...!!!

You have one of the best machines . I would say wait a coulpe of weeks maybe even months.....learn your machine.....then if you want get a 5" coil, and get the 15 inch All Terrain WOT Coil DD Explorer and Quatro and maybe 8" Round Monoloop

Or maybe a coit coil.
