Took the day off to do some digging today. We didn't have anything planned so we went to a 1830's house site that the owner told me to come back in the fall. We got permission and took to the fields. The first target I dug was a period cuff link. After that it was slow pickings and we made our way to a second field. Managed a flat button down there and my buddy dug a tombac. After that we moseyed back up to the house and got permission for the yard around the house. After weeding through the tons of iron through the front yard we were getting about ready to leave. I dug a target under a bush and a square nail popped out. Figuring that was all in the hole since square nails were ringing up like large cents all day I covered my whole. I swung back over it and still had a solid 1c to 25c tone! I redug the hole and there was my second half cent of the season! Also found what I believe may be the top of a powder flask and this faux dollar thing dated 1861? Thanks for looking

Cool finds,sweet half cent!!

Sorry! 1804. Real hard to tell but you can see it in certain light. Gave it a good hot peroxide bath to clean it up a little

Gotta play ignorant-- what is a 'tombac'? If I know I plum forgot. Nice ha'penny!

I think you are right on the powder flask top. Just think, in 1804 Jefferson was president and Lewis and Clark were exploring the west.

Tombac is the material it's made from, looks kinda like pewter.

Nice finds skateandcrate!
