I grabbed my new machine and headed out before the storms... 20 minutes in had to call it a day. But found some neat things at a old school

Hello issombeituni,

Welcome to Weird Old Stuff Theatre, and thanks for the photos of your finds.

The white porcelain bit is the bottom of a Hutter style bottle stopper. It would have sported a rubber gasket in the groove.

I argue against the "Unknown metal part" being an inkwell lid. Strongly, in fact. Please show me this other "inkwell lid" ID.

The only inkwells with lids, were fancy desk or travelling inks. None of which, I am aware of, having any sort of "D" shaped finish. One thing about inkwells, one best keep them tightly corked, or otherwise battened down, if moving them about, lest you have ink everywhere. The mystery part would not be effective in containing ink.

My wife found this online. This is a desk insert from a old desk

Well slap my face, and call me Mabel. The old Tannewitz Schoolhouse ink gambit.

I see your point, and that of Bigcypress , as well: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/196733-circle-decorated-pierced-pewter-object.html

Just when you think you've got old bottles figured out, here comes Tannewitz. These are the first Tannewitz "D" shaped inks, I've seen. They look problematic, I bet there are not many out there.

The lion, tiger & bear share of schoolhouse inks are conical.
