Between the both of us I guess we picked 4lb.+,I gave mine to Carmine,the guy who works the meadows and with a big grin He said Thanks.

I believe this is from a Broad Tail Hawk,what ever ate it picked them bones clean.I'll get a better pic next time

I didn't know you could eat fiddle heads. I am not too sure about any wild plants except a morel though, so I stay away from the wild ones.
 

Old Dude,

Fiddleheads are very good....I used to pick them as a kid basically a wild version of asparagus and very tasty just rinse them off and saute them in some butter and salt and pepper....yummy.

Don't forget the garlic.
 

Ferns only grow in very limited areas in the Rockies. Seems in deep gullies close to water falls I've noticed them growing. They need the constant humidity mist from the falling water I'm thinking? Not sure what kind of ferns they are though?
