Had some spare time today and since the boxes have been bad lately, decided to go to a couple of small towns about 35 miles away to check for halves. I had never gone there before and called ahead. Four banks said I could have what had collected in their coin machines. I was a customer at only one of the banks. I thought it was going to be a great score but the finds were rather sparse considering I was getting halves from coin machines that appeared to not be used by CRHers. Out of about $550 total in halves (between all the banks), I got 10- 40%ers. No 90%s at all. I asked all the tellers if there were many looking for halves and they said no, that they don't have people asking for them. 10 is better than zero but probably not really worth the drive and time involved. Got to see some pretty farmland though.

I also got 3 nice newer canvas bank bags out of it, which is good cause mine are starting to tear and wear down.

I think that was the shortest retirement ever. Because I know this isn't the first time since then. With the economy so bad It pulled you out of retirement huh? Good haul. 10 is a good score now----- $20

Ny,

I have not officially retired lately, but have tried to quit several times. I am too addicted to quit I guess. ;D CRHing seems to take time away from my work, so it is not a good option with respect to making me money considering how few keepers I have been getting. I only have one bank now ordering me boxes, but if they don't start producing soon I will just stick to occasional hand rolls and bags from coin counters.

I look at each coin as approx 1.50 profit since I have to pay 50 cents for it. Hopefully silver will go up and they will be worth more soon.

I have, on the other hand, had my retirement confirmed this week. Got another 4 skunks including a box of that was appoximately 50% bicentenial that looked like somebody had buried them in a swamp for the last 33 years >:( >:( >:(

Good luck to everybody who has it left in them to continue on, for me it's just not any fun any more.

PD,

I am not far behind you. I have 3 boxes coming in next week, and if all of them are skunks again I will cancel all box orders. I will always take coin machine bags whenever I can get them. I have 3 different banks where I can get them, but they take months to fill up.
