I wanted to post a long story and make this really cool. But putting together this video zapped the will power to do any more than the bare minimum 15 pieces of flare. In the morning I scored a 1941-P Wheatie, and in the afternoon I got a fork, a knife, a clad dime, a clad quarter, and then another wheatie (not sure on it's date yet), and then I got my first Freddie! Check out the video:

Yeah I gave her a little love tap with my Lesche... but that mother was hard to pinpoint in a sea full of trash over there. To give you some idea, my 6" Detech Excelerater coil only was able to barely hear a decent penny/dime tone in ONE particular angle and if I twisted it just a little either way it was gone. I don't even know how I found it, but I was going over the ground slow with my coil like I was reading the fine print with a magnifying glass so that might have something to do with it. My dad's dime was loud and clear all the way around with my coil, but with his 6x10 DD Eliptical he could only get it one way as well.

All that hiking around through the woods without silver and it was right across the street! LOL.

We REALLY wanted to stay longer once we found those silvers.

Thanks again everyone for a great time! Hope you see you guys out there again sometime.

EDIT: OK, now that I've rested... I have the energy to share Saturday's find of the day. My 3rd silver ring for the year.

Found the ring in a park that my Dad and Brother and I hit Saturday evening. We were already a little wiped out from finding diddlysquat at an older-than-God farm house. It was time to go cherry pickin'! So we hit up my favorite little lunch break park and collectively pulled over $21 out of there! My dad had 31 quarters, and my brother and I tied for 15 quarters each. We all had about $2 in dimes. I got lucky and found the ring going slow with my new 6" detech coil. It rang up quarter and boy did it feel good not getting a quarter just then. This would be my first two-silver weekend.

It was just right across from the BBQ... but Twistidd did mention the picnic area up north was all trash too, but we went up there as well for a sampling. It's BAD up there! I would not go without a REALLY small coil. My 6" coil was still like "Bleeep, weep, woop beep, eeep, eeep, ep, ep, ep, weeeeep!" over about 6 inches, LOL.

I UPDATED THE FIRST POST WITH SATURDAYS FINDS!

Congrat's on your first Merc Brett! That was so cool that you found it just as we were leaving. I had been telling RM and Pulltab, "lets get outta here" for over over an hour prior to that. I had already packed up the DFX and washed up and was just reaching for the donut box when I heard "SILVER!". Not to be outdone by the RootM, I re-armed the Whites and pulled my 48 Rosie not more than 5' away from where you got the Merc. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.. ;D

Congrats on your first Merc! now you know what they sound like, now go get them!!! :icon_pirat:

Wow! You found that gorgeous Merc in that clearing by the BBQ??!! I know how trashy those CCFP areas are. That was quite an accomplishment! Outstanding find!!!!!

Thanks for the cool video and congrats on your ring!!!

Nice scores! Good thing you guys didn't listen to me, lol.

Did you dig up a lot of junk?

That's great Brett !!!

Nice meeting you both on Sunday. I'm glad you guys went home with some silver after that long ride down here. Go figure... right across from the bbq.

That park by your house sound's like a real honey hole for you guys.

I was in a grid pattern searching through the trash just scoping out every semi high tone... I doubt I would have made it over to where you found that Rosie in time, but I'm glad you did come through that area again and find something good. I just wish Tim could have got his first silver out there today, but it really was too trashy for an ACE 250 out there... especially without a 4.5" sniper coil.

Thanks Goio! Yeah I hope they all don't sound that way or I'm going to have to dig some bigger holes to avoid scratching the next one. I can't believe you're almost at 150 this year already.

Thanks a bunch Kimsdad! I got my second wheatie and a clad quarter over there too first, which I thought was a real accomplishment. The silver was just so unexpected. That's when it really gets you pumped!

Thanks Twistidd! Yeah that picnic area up north was insane even with my 6" coil.. so you are definitely right about that place. There was no way we couldn't just go check it out though ;-) Next time use the adjective "insanely trashy". I wonder if you could get on your hands and knees and just scour the area with a Sunray probe??? I know my Merc was deeper than my probe could reach, but that doesn't mean they all are.

I didn't dig much trash in the FP areas, because I was just listening for decent high tones, but at the camp I filled my pouch twice with stuff. Out in the ball field I dug this thick metal plate that I wasn't going to carry around with me, so I tossed it in that desk under the tree line. I dug a bunch of pull tabs and little cans and bent can tops... and foil, lots of foil!

Thanks for the guided trip into the camp... I really appreciate your guys' hospitality and hope we can get together hunting more in the future!

Thanks Mike! It was a pleasure meeting you as well. Keep working with GPS and Google Earth because there are so many good things that can come from it. Yeah I just did not want to leave until we found more wheaties or some silver! It's ALWAYS ON THE WAY BACK though!!! maybe we SHOULD have left a couple times today to get our WAY BACK finds built up ;) Yup, the park is definitely a honey hole... and it's close to where I work so I can go get some loot on my lunch break. HH!

Big time congrats!!!
