My wife and I decided to take a ride on my day off. We went to Cabelas, as we usually do when we decide to take a ride. I had decided before we left I wasn't buying anything. We walked around a bit and ended up where they stock the detectors. As soon as I walked up to the Mine Lab display, I noticed this Manticore crying because it was lonely, being the only one on the shelf. I couldn't bear it, I had to bring it home.

Wouldn't you know it, in a post I made last week in the XP forums, I said I wouldn't by a Deus II because the price was more than I wanted to spend (was thinking the ORX or Deus I). Now here I am with a brand new Manticore.

Have USB in the car so I gave it a charge on the way home and took it out for a spin when we got back to the house. I can't use sensitivity higher than 15 or it's constant chatter. Neighbors have dog fences! I have the same issue with my Legend. However, even at 15 I found a nail at 11 inches which gave me a good mid tone. I also noticed that I can hear higher tones with iron tones. I thought that was pretty neat. I'm used to only hearing one or the other at a time. I only played for a half hour, but so far I'm liking the machine. Lots to learn, I'm going to take the manual to work with me to read during my down time. Can't wait to get to places with no dog fences!

Just did the updates on the machine and the headphones.

Great choice! The Minelab Manticore is the best all-around detector on the market right now.
Always something more to learn about it.

I'll second that. Remember to do a continuously noise cancel by holding down the noise cancel button for several cycles until it finally locks on to one number this key for getting better stability. Start with adjusting the sensitivity until it becomes unstable then back it down 2 numbers. Then noise cancel again and see if it will go higher. This machine does the best I've ever seen in different EMI environments
