The 1830 is on alot of them, the Reason for the date I forget. someone here will tell you I'm shure.
 

I'm streatching since I'm not Catholic but could the date be the year the church granted them sainthood. Also if there is a name on the back, I believe that meant the medal was blessed by a priest.
 

I don't know,but I used to have the same medal,I think.Mine also had a date of 1830,and was made of sterling silver.Is yours? Is it the Virgin Mary?Mine also had some writing on the back.I wish I knew where it went.Good luck in your search.H.H.
 

Nope no silver. and this is what the back of the necklace looks like. Nothing any where indacating its silver.

what does it say on the back, bottom ? that is usually where they are marked STERLING if they are silver

All that says is where its made at Its says France.. I posted it at another site and someone gave me a link explaing whats on the back...
