Went all day long today...from 8 am until about 4pm and hit the fairground where they just pulled out from our annual District Fair. I actually, didn't do too bad, but was hopeful that the quarters would have showed up more, and maybe a ring. I did find a ring, but it isn't much to look at. Kinda like Mastereagle. Maybe I should give it to him...not. ::)

Anyway, this is what I found:

Hows this for an almost?

I"d say you found some really interesting things. Yep the ring is a junk ring, but the frame pin you found looks really old.

My bad....Of everything in the photo, I found it all. Except...the frame pin...which just happens to be the coolest of the bunch. Another detectorist loaned me his truck seat to take a load off and our talk turned to civil war and relics. I saw this in his change keeper and in the "Indian Traditon", he was kind enough to give it to me. He claimed he found it at an old house here in Missouri. He stated that this had a picture in it of a boy when he found it. I wish he had left it intact, but was elated that he gave it to me. Always great to have a friend, especially one so generous. By the way...if you read this...Thanks a million!

Baldingboy.

Nice finds, but is it just me or did you post this 3 times? Wha happen? Monty

Cool bunch of Stuff!
I like the little ornate pin thingy'....

Not much to look at? If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Well I got a call from BB at 9PM on Saturday night and he told me that he was going to the fairgrounds at 5:30 AM and that I should meet him there. Well I couldn't make it since I had babysitting duty this weekend, like always so I told him good luck. I got up and went to breakfast with my son at 8:00 AM and guess what no BB anywhere. Called his wife at 10:00 and she told me had overslept.

Well at 12:30 I called BB to make sure he was still alive and he says to me, "Yeah I'm here not finding much and I am really thirsty and hungry." And then asks me if I could get him lunch? Yeah and you want a backrub and manicure with that too there BB????? (actually he just asked for something to drink, ok so he didn't ask I offered to bring him something, see that's the kind of friend I am) I showed up with some liquid refreshment and some food and he sat down and wolfed down the food and slammed a 44 OZ tea like most frat guys slam beer. ;D He then showed me his finds and said he couldn't figure out why he wasn't finding more stuff. I suggested he move off the pavement and into the grass, he didn't want to get his XLT dirty and didn't like that suggestion. At this point I noticed he was wearing a couple of little clippy things in his hair. He says to me, "Yeah I found them here, aren't they nice?" I suggested he remove them and place them back in his bag, he just looked at me with hurt puppy dog eyes and said, "Your just jealous cause you don't have any for your hair." ;D

I then asked BB is he had even gone to the fair to which his reply was NO. Since my wife had drug me to the fair two night ago I quickly pointed out where he should be hunting, he was close but not really where he needed to be. He then started whining about how his arm hurt, and his legs hurt and how his feet were going to be black and blue and at one point asked me if I would be so kind as to Swing his XLT for him and he would watch me dig and he would keep the finds. ;D He even asked me to carry him at one point. ;D Like that is ever going to happen! My liitle guy was tired and needed a nap so I had to leave. As I loaded my little guy in the car to go home I looked out at BB and wished I could have stayed and helped him find some stuff. It has been five days since I have been able to detect and I am going through baddddddd withdrawls!!!!!!!!

BB stopped by after the hunt to share some finds with me and we ended up talking about the upcoming CTH, our traveling plans, display ideas and I shared my coint count to date with him. His wife called and he told me he had to go, then mumbled something about his wife and a baseball bat. :D

Good hunting BB I really like the token and the ZP is pretty cool but that necklace with the little skull is awesome.

RUDY2003,
Thanks. I really liked the pin too. It's cool that other detectorist are so generous.

lost at sea,
Reflecting back now, it was a day well spent. I probably wouldn't have thought so if you had asked me right after the hunt. :-\

Monty,
Lay off the gin.

;D ;D Oh my gosh, ya'll are just too funny! :D Just how long does it take for you to conger up that material, ME? :D

Can't wait to meet you two! OH, and nice finds BB! ;)

Most of the time it just comes to me. It is pretty easy when you have such wonderful material to work with as BB. Because he and I are so much alike I know what buttons to push to get to him and he knows the same about me. It is fun because we can pick on each other and have a good time doing it. :D

OK, so I admit it. I did oversleep a little before going hunting. Probably tired from babysitting you on our hunts. (What's that on your chin?)

Mastereagle calls me about 12:30 and says, "How is the hunting going?" I said that I was kinda disappointed in what I have found so far, but if he had a chance to come on by. He said he had his little boy with him, but he would come by for awhile. He offered to bring me something to drink, and I said sure. He asked me if I had eaten and I said no.

Well, my phone rings again, and he says "I can't find you." I look up and he is racing up and down the road about 50 feet from me. I say look to your right and I am waving at him like I am trying to land a jet on an aircraft carrier at midnight in the Bearing Sea....with him blindfolded behind the wheel. He screehes to a halt and comes loping across the fairground to where I sit digging a coin. He is carrying a PIZZA! and an Ice Tea. He says "Land Sakes Child, you must eat if you are going to keep up your strength to metal detect." At this point, I notice that he is wearing an red gingham apron!!

While I eat, he wrestles with his toddler whom he has brought with him. This CHILD NEEDS A NAP! Cantankerous as can be. He sits the child up on his shoulders to keep him at bay, and he is climbing all over his head and shoulders and beating on top of his head. Imagine Marlin Perkins on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, doing a spot with a baby orangutan and you can picture the scene. The funny part was that the child has a small play cell phone and kept telling ME22 that he was a Bad Daddy and that he was going to call the cops on him. I coached his son on what to tell the police when they arrived. ;D

Well, I finished my pizza and ME22 said he was 'going to detect, but thought his son needed a nap'. I concurred. :P

He departed and said his wife would be coming home and he had to "make the house spic and span before she got home or he would be in BIG trouble". He pulled off his apron so he could get situated in the car and in a flash he was gone. I watched his car disappear over the hill and then I said to his toddler son, "Man your dad is forgetful." He started dialing the police again.

You guys are a frickin' hoot and a half.

No your wife said you overslept again because you were up talking to your XLT until 2AM coaching it into "finding something good for daddy, just like ME's Explorer does for him." :D

Second part is correct, at least factually close enough.

Don't own an apron, not even one for nails.

And I THOUGHT my huntin buddy would appreciate something to drink and eat, pardon me for being thoughtful there BB. ; >:( ;D

Actually if you ever saw the really bad TV show about dinosaurs where the little baby kept hitting the dad in the head with a frying pan saying ,"not the mama, not the mama" that would be a better description. :D ;D

Dylan kept asking me why the police were taking BB away. How do you explain to a 2 y/o that a 40 y/o balding, dimensionally challenged white man CANNOT wear a TUTU in public and not get arrested for it? The whole time BB was screaming at the top of his lungs about how the XLT couldn't do a Pas De Deux alone!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

I didn't have my detector in the car, they were both at home. And BB forgot to mention that I had just finished a three hour marathon of watching 4 kids under the age of six for a few hours while they litterally destroyed my house!! I needed some Xanax and a nap after they left but instead I got in my car and took BB lunch and made sure he wasn't out playing in traffic. :D

My little boy was trying to call the police on his play phone but only after I told him we were going to see Tom at the park. He kept crying and saying no daddy no Tom Scary. I think he nailed that one on the head. ;D ;D ;D ;D :D

I have never hit one old person, I love children, I have three great kids, and I never hit my grandma but I did put holes in all of her cigarette filters once with a needle but that is a story for a different time. :D
