Hey everyone! I went out to one of my favorite spots with some buddies today. It is the site of a now gone mid 1800s homesite as well as a civil war camp. I discovered this wreath part of a tongue and wreath buckle today and I belive it to be pre civil war. Do you date these based off of the attachments? This is a first for me. It is very small and what I would consider a ladies I would assume.

Could you please show the back of it? And, was this by chance near water? From what I can see it reminds me a bit of the swimsuit buckles from the 1920’s or so which used these. This is based on it’s small size, looking a bit flimsy, and the design on it which may be depicting waves.

Clean it up a bit and show both sides and something for size reference.
Don't try to straighten the belt loop, it will surly break.

We find those in the Gold Rush camps prior to the 1860's here on the West coast.

Great find congrats
