Never seen one like that!........................HH

Tom Mix is one of the great stars from yesteryear that this generation has no idea who he was. Dubois Pa used to have a yearly celebration in honor of him but due to lack of interest was cancelled. His birth place in Cameron County years ago had been over grown with brush and trees. Someone bought the property and built buildings on the old foundations, a Tom Mix museum on the site and opened the grounds to the public. Today the place is no longer advertised as Tom Mix birth place and is private property.

Medix Run is the village that Tom Mix is from, rugged country. Not too far from the Confederate gold treasure at Dents Run.

First we hear of Tom Mix is that he was bartender at The Blue Belle Saloon in Guthrie, OK 1902-04, then moved just up the road to the 101 ranch where he got his start as a cowboy. Lots of history there

Thanks for the history lesson, much appreciated.

that's cool. found a couple on the net but not much of a description other than a '40s radio show premium. evidently it is a whistle with a couple of small magnifying lenses.

The place on it where it is rusty there was a compass

To get a better idea of who Tom Mix was watch the 80's movie "Sunset" starring Bruce Willis as Mix and James Garner as Wyatt Earp. It's a fictional dramatization of a true story, if that makes sense. The studios really hired Earp to help Mix make more realistic western movies. Of course, the movie veers off into a crime fighting buddy pic, but it's fun nonetheless.

My mom has an autographed picture of Tom Mix sitting on his horse. I believe she got it when he visited Syracuse N.Y.

Actually, he was born in Mix Run, very near Medix Run. Dubois always claimed he was born in their town probably for publicity. Tom did live in Dubois from the time he was 6 or 7 since his parents moved there from Mix Run.
