This is an old, abandoned storefront in the small community of Tolu in rural Crittenden County, Kentucky. Tolu is located on the Ohio River on the site of an ancient Native American mound building culture known as the Mississippians. Tolu was once an important river town replete with banks, stores, churches, taverns, hotels and other businesses. At one point, it had the potential of becoming a city; however, that did not happen. Today, it is a sleepy hamlet with many old abandoned buildings such as this
