Tokens~~Do people collect them?

The old tokens can fetch lots of money for the right ones! Many are in the hundreds and even thousands of dollars each.

The modern ones still have some interest I think, such as rare Chuckie Cheese tokens and maybe others.

Dont listen to the man in the picture above me...they are worthless and I would just send any you have found or may ever find directly to me and I will dispose of them properly for you! ;) ;) ;) :D

So where do we find out about token values? What is the best token any of you have found. Did you keep it or sell it?

I posted a picture of one I found on Tnet and it was itendified within about two hours by PBK. Values are another story, but DO NOT toss 'em. The one I found was in pretty bad shape, but it still fetched me $20 at a local detector club meeting. The fellow who bought it was a Token collector and he specialized in local tokens. I may have been able to get more for it, but I have no interest in them and I didn't want to bother with E-Bay to sell it. I took the money from the sale and bought raffle tickets for two gold coins at the meeting and won them both!

Moral of the story is to keep the tokens and sell them if they don't interest you!

What year do you consider a rare chuckie cheese token?

Not sure... I remember seeing a post by somebody on this forum that had a link to a collectors website.

Well....a 1841 would be extremely rare. ;)
But an 1982 Pizza Time is also considered rare.

Found a ship's exchange token off the USS Yarnall back in the Spring. It was good for 50 cents at the ship's store. Sold it for $12.00 to a coin dealer. We had a tough time trying to figure out what it was worth, but he said he had a customer who would be interested in it. I checked with other dealers and the consensus was that it was probably worth $10-$12. So I sold it for $12.00.
