elwest is a currently active company that did not exist in the 1940s. They specialize in the adult video booths where you can see a minute or two of a triple x movie for a token. The hole may have been so that they could see the movie and fish the coin back out. Pinball players used to do the same thing. exanimo, ss

Yep, Siegfried has a point there... brought back some nice memories. Drilling holes in quarters helped me master the pinball game "ElDorato" circa 1974 and helped me eat well out of vending machines too. Holes in dimes worked for the phone booths to keep me in touch with friends. Those were the days! :) -Ben

Lots of repos & fantasy tokens, coins, baggage checks etc. out there from India and China, loads of them on eBay, be careful if you are not expert in an item! >:(

Thank you for info.

In Poland telephones and other coin/tokens maschines were made the way, that if You even hang a token or coin on a steel chain...
You would not be able to take it back... :D I'm not joking, it's true.
