token?

found this in a field with 2 flat buttons, I guess a lot of old flat buttons and old tokens have come from this field, anyone know what this one is and age?

it is about the size of a quarter

you deffinently found out more than me! I took what you had and found out his name was OESTERREICH, you also got the back right, I cant even find a picture of it! still trying to figure out what it was for and age.

Jetons were gaming counters or tokens. The "von Österreich" just means "from Austria." It was for folks to be identified by where they were from centuries ago.

There are books out there on jetons, but I don't own one. There are literally thousands and thousands of different types of them. Most of these date from the 16th c. up to the early 19th c.
