Found this tag in an old farm field. It looks to me like any of the many tags I see on here.
But, I'm not finding anything on the stamping.

2017 (217).jpg

About an inch and a half in diameter, probably brass.
That's a broken, large, tombac button.

The stamping looks to me as "BMSCo 6"

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Maybe a better pic after some more cleaning will help? :dontknow:

Hope it helps.

Ok, my last bump. I love a good mystery but, I suppose some are just not to be figured out.

Let me toss out a suggestion. Is it possible this might be associated with the
Bristol Myers Squibb Company?
The font lends itself to possibly the 1800's.

Maybe some sort of shipping tag on a box of medicines? :dontknow:

Bristol Myers Squibb Company is as good a guess as any. Initials out of context are very hard to research...

I agree the font and patina put the relic in the 19th C.

Maybe just an animal tag. What ever it was on, it was important enough to be numbered.

Late 19th century dog licence from Branchville or Blackville South Carolina? Maybe that's what it means be BV SC.
