Thought I had a copper at first till I brushed it off. Its abut 1 1/8". Found in an area settled by civil war deserters. Appears to have four "M"s top, bottom, left and right. "1-D" or "I-D" center and then possibly "GC" above that. Anyone seen this before? Thought it could have been stamped on a coin but cant see anything on the back and its slightly larger than a braided hair LC I compared it to. Possible civil war token? Store token? Some sort of ID tag or pickers check? Thanks for any help you can give. Oh and I found a pretty clasp too :laughing7:

Whatever it is, it looks cool! I don't think it's a store token, it looks homemade and uneven. Also says nothing about a denomination, value or "good for".

This needs to have more eyes put on it....bizarre, and pretty cool...
Hope you get an ID....

You're right Dave. I hope someone with some knowledge on this can get a look at it and tell us exactly what this is.

Cool! Coin weight maybe? Sub 8-)

I would think it would have the weight stamped on it if in that case? Also think its a little heavier than most being a larger diameter.

Certainly an interesting one... Maybe a picture of the back might do some good? Some of the coin and token folks can pick up on surprisingly small details. Couldn't hurt if we're at a stand still.
