I decided to get back to the park that I hunted on Tuesday. This time I took the CTX 3030. Tuesday's hunt gave me 149 coins. Today, using the CTX 3030, I rounded up another 106 coins plus a 6 token spill.
I gave it another 6 hours and was quite busy. Steady clad with a Wheat Penny here and there. Before the hunt was over, I would manage another 14 wheat pennies and a toasted Buffalo Nickel. When I got home, I thought I had a 1922 semi key date wheat penny. At first I saw 1927, but it is kind of toasted,, and playing around in different light, I started to see a 22 instead of a 27. Doesn't really matter because it is too far gone to be worth anything.
In the last hour of the hunt I picked up a beautiful 1939 Mercury Dime. It came in very high on the VDI. A 20-47 at 7 inches. A normal Silver Dime reading is around 12-45. I was expecting to see iron in the hole but there she was . A very clean silver. When I hit it with a little Baking Soda Paste at home,, I couldn't believe how pretty it is.
The last hour also included a 6 token spill. First time I've had that many tokens in one hole. Although all of the tokens are the "No Cash Value" type, one of them has a "5" on it and for a minute I thought I had a Shield Nickel.
I think I may have found the area where a work shop or barn may have stood. Lots of Iron. I'll give it another swing with the CTX.
